Nagpur · Vidarbha

A page held open for every reader in Vidarbha.

We are a registered Section 8 Company (non-profit) that organizes and manages school reading programmes, College book review sessions, Literature Festivals and a book exchange, so that a love of reading isn't a privilege of geography or income — it's a right of every child and neighbourhood in the region.

वाचनाचा मंत्र

वाचाल तर वाचाल

Read, and you will survive-thrive.

The verb वाचणे means both to read and to survive — so the line says both at once.

— डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर

Why we exist

Books move slowly in Vidarbha.
We're here to change the pace.

Across Nagpur's neighbourhoods and the smaller towns around it, the nearest library is often a bus ride away, and a personal book collection is a luxury most households skip. Vidarbha Literary Foundation was founded to close that gap directly — not with charity, but with infrastructure: shelves people can actually reach, a system that treats every borrower with dignity, and a reading culture that starts in the classroom and follows children home.

What we run

Four ways we encourage literary activities.

Book Exchange Program

MetroBookX

metrobookx.com

A free, credit-based community book exchange program. Members bring one book from their personal collection and exchange it for one book from the thousands on our shelves! All Facilitated by a simple App harnessing the power of technology.

School Outreach Program

Project LitSpark

Explore the programme

Structured lesson plans and discussion guides for school classrooms, built around full novels rather than excerpts, so students experience a complete story and the satisfaction of finishing a book they chose to keep reading.

College Outreach Program

Project Rekindle

We review the books on the college book club's reading list and run sessions that teach students how to conduct a review of their own — moving past plot summary toward a real argument about what a book does well and why it lands.

Lit Fest

Vidarbha Literature Festival

vidlitfest.com

Each year the Foundation gathers readers and authors under one roof for the Vidarbha Literature Festival — a few days packed with author interactions, on-stage book reviews, author interviews, reader engagement, and much more.
